Dr Ben Egliston and Professor Marcus Carter contributed an opinion piece for ABC Religion & Ethics on Meta's newly announced partnership with defence technology company Anduril to develop VR and AR headsets for the US military.

They trace the deep roots of immersive technology in military research and warfare, and explore why Meta—in the absence of mass-market adoption of VR and AR—may now be looking to defence as a path to relevance.
